ORIGEN:  La raza FOLDEX surge del cruce entre el Fold Escocés (Scottish Fold) y el Exótico de pelo corto, en el año 1992.

  Actualmente y desde agosto del año 2006 es reconocida cómo raza por la CCA – Canadian Cat Association, único país donde puede registrarse oficialmente, no como raza experimental, siendo en Canadá donde la raza se está haciendo cada vez más popular en las exposiciones y donde crece el número de criadores.

En Europa no tenemos conocimiento por el momento de criadores de esta raza en alza.

    DESCRIPCIÓN:

   La característica principal en esta nueva raza es la doblez de las orejas, cómo en los fold escoceses, determinada por el mismo gen dominante que se trasmite a parte de sus descendientes.

  Esta característica solo se manifiesta en la descendencia que presenta este gen. Lo que le diferencia del escocés es que el FOLDEX tiene una nariz más chata, aunque no tanto como la de los Exóticos.

   Cuerpo: Esta raza se caracteriza por una estructura ósea fuerte, compacta y cuello corto. El cuerpo de Foldex es musculado y equilibrado, de líneas cortas, similar al del Exótico. 

Cabeza: Redondeada y con mejillas llenas. Los gatos con orejas dobladas hacen del Foldex una raza absolutamente peculiar, asemejando su aspecto al de un pequeño búho peludo.  

CCA Foldex Standard    

ORIGIN: The breed Foldex arises from the crossing of Scottish Fold (Scottish Fold) and the Exotic Shorthair in 1992.

      DESCRIPTION:

    The main feature in this new breed is the bending of the ears, how in the Scottish fold, determined by the same dominant gene that is passed on to some of their descendants.

   This feature is only manifested in offspring that present this gene. What sets it apart is that the Scottish Foldex has a snub nose, although not as much as the Exotic.

  Body: This breed is characterized by a strong bone structure, compact and short neck. Foldex body is muscled and balanced, short lines, similar to the Exotic.

    Head: Rounded and full cheeks. Cats with folded ears make a breed Foldex absolutely peculiar, resembling the appearance of a furry little owl.

Ojos: Redondos y muy abiertos. Tienen una visión principal redonda desde cada ángulo. El color depende del manto, generalmente de ámbar a verde.

Nariz: Más corta que el Fold escocés, pero no tanto como el Exótico de pelo corto.

Color: Los colores permitidos son iguales que en los Exóticos. Se aceptan las alternativas de color descritas y bicolores.

Nose: shorter than the Scottish Fold, but not as much as the Exotic Shorthair.

Pelaje: El pelo generalmente corto es denso, mullido y muy suave. También puede tener el pelo semi-largo o largo.

Carácter: El temperamento es dulce, cariñoso y reservado. Es un gato activo pero no excesivo en sus períodos de actividad, es inteligente, noble y curioso.

Le gusta mucho jugar y aprende rápido los pequeños juegos. Son muy cariñosos y se acercna fácilmente al desconocido.

REPRODUCCION:

Como en el scottish fold, la característica de las orejas dobladas “fold” es debida a un gen dominante que procede como en la mayoría de las razas recientes a una mutación genética.

La crianza con dos gatos de orejas dobladas puede producir algunas malformación ósea. Por este motivo la cría debe realizarse solamente con un gato con orejas dobladas y con otro de orejas rectas, mantener este criterio es de gran importancia para asegurar el nacimiento de gatitos sanos. Es esencial comprar un Foldex de un criador de reputación asegurada que críe solamente con gatos de orejas dispares, con uno de orejas dobladas y otro de orejas rectas.

El gen no se trasmite a todos los descendientes, en general, la característica principal de orejas dobladas "fold" solamente se manifiesta en una parte de la descendencia.

Todos los gatitos nacen con las orejas rectas y éstas comenzarán a doblarse entre la 3ª y 4ª semana desde el nacimiento.

Character: The temperament is sweet, affectionate and quiet. It is an active cat but not excessive in their periods of activity, is intelligent, noble and curious.

She loves to play and learn fast the little games. They are very affectionate and easily about the unknown.

REPRODUCTION:

    As in the scottish fold, the property of ears bent "fold" is due to a dominant gene proceeds as in most recent breeds to a genetic mutation.

    The breeding two folded-eared cats can cause some bone malformation. Therefore breeding should be done only with a cat with folded ears and with another straight ears, keep this approach is very important to ensure the birth of healthy kittens.
